RESCUED BUDGET QUESTIONS
Why are so many hours needed to mix?
An average professional project will take 15-20 hours per song. The song mix is what gives different music instruments and vocals the clarity they separately need to be pleasant to the listener. If you’ve listened to a CD lately that sounded muffled or distorted than the main reason was a bad mix. Radio and Television will almost 99% of the time not play songs that have not been professionally mixed. Concerning mixing and time spent, consider a jigsaw puzzle. With a jigsaw puzzle it is necessary to spread all your pieces out on a table and then spend the appropriate time assembling each piece to its proper location, the end result produces a beautiful picture. This completely relates to the mixing process in the audio world. We must often spend hours of time to place our various pieces of music (via effects and different levels) where they properly belong. When doing this correctly, it brings forth something crisp and inviting to the listener.
What does mastering a song do?
Mastering a song adds the final touches to the song or songs. The one mastering will often increase the sound levels and add an effect or two to the entire song to give it that crisp final touch. This would be like adding that final coat of varnish to your brand new deck or fence.
What does a Project Producer do?
As the project producer I will maintain a full-time schedule making sure that all musicians have signed necessary contracts before recording. I will coordinate with different people’s schedules and make sure that we are meeting our goals and deadlines in a timely fashion. I will be at every practice and studio session to ensure that recordings and practices are audibly where they need to be. I will be sending out promotional packages to different record labels. Added to this I will be acting as the recording artist (lead vocals and harmonies) and recording guitarist.
Dedicating a full-time schedule to the Rescued Project, I’ll be able to finish the project within 6 months. Working a separate job while aiming to complete the Rescued Project could take me at least 1 year and a half and I would still need to raise funds to meet that deadline.
What all is included in the recording gear?
Funds given here will help me purchase the needed equipment to start recording professionally from home. Studio time for vocal/ instrument recordings for this project would cost $6,720.00. I will cut my costs in half by purchasing the equipment I need. This will also help me to record other paying projects which will help me make additional income.
Vocal Compressor – Brings all the microphone recordings to a consistent level. This eliminates vocal distortion. Compressors are like spray extensions on a hose. When water is turned on the hose without an extension the hose will tend to flop around and pour out water at a high volume with no control. However with a spray extension you have control of where and when you want the water to come out. In this example the water is the recorded vocal, the water hose is the microphone and the spray extension is vocal compressor.
Professional Recording Microphone – Will help me to record a quality sound with my voice
Studio Foam – This eliminates outside noise and will allow me to record without back ground noise picking up in my recordings
Why do you need a Wireless Credit Card Reader?
More and more people are using their debit/ credit cards to make purchases. The Wireless Credit Card Reader will enable me to sell cds and other products at different venues I perform at. In the past, I have missed out on sales because I did not have a way to process credit cards.
